About pdfzen

Built out of frustration.
Shipped out of passion.

pdfzen started because I was tired of bloated, slow, ad-cluttered PDF tools that upload your files to someone else's server just to convert a JPEG. So I built something better.

This is a passion project. One person, one goal — give people fast, private, genuinely useful PDF tools without the noise. If pdfzen saves you even 30 seconds today, it's doing its job. If you find it useful, supporting this project helps me keep building. Every new feature I ship is because someone found it worth their time.

Why pdfzen exists

The existing tools are either expensive (Adobe Acrobat), cluttered with ads and dark patterns (the big free sites), or they upload your files to servers you don't control. For something as personal as a passport scan, a contract, or a medical document — that's a problem.

pdfzen runs entirely in your browser. Your files never leave your device. There's no account required. No tricks. The tool either works or it doesn't — and if it doesn't, I want to know about it.

What I believe in

🔒
Privacy by default
Files are processed locally. Nothing is uploaded. Not a marketing line — it's literally how the code works.
Speed over features
A tool that does one thing fast and well beats one that does everything slowly. Every new feature earns its place.
🎯
Utility first
No dark patterns, no misleading free trials. Free means free. Paid means genuinely better.
🛠️
Built in public
pdfzen improves based on real feedback. The suggestions button on every page goes directly to me.

What's coming

pdfzen is just getting started. On the roadmap: Merge PDF, Split PDF, Rotate pages, an AI-powered PDF summariser, and OCR to make scanned documents searchable. Each tool gets the same attention to speed and privacy as the first two.

If you have a tool you need that isn't here yet — hit the ? button on any page and tell me. I read every message and build based on what people actually ask for.

Want to support pdfzen? The best things you can do are: use the tools, share the site with someone who needs it, and send feedback. If Pro features ship and they're useful to you, paying for them is the most direct way to keep this project alive and growing. Thank you for being here.
